"We hired Eric at Nelson Custom Builders, to finish our unfinished basement. Approximately 1100 sq ft. While their proposal was not the least expensive, the quality from day one is truly remarkable. Eric is very creative and not only allows for changes, but works with your ideas and his experiences to enhance your original plans to the next level. He does not nickel and dime you either. If the change does not cost more he does not charge you, if there are changes, he is fair and does not have a set price for moving those or adding that. The crew shows up each and every day as planned, and clean up the entire work area at the end of each day. There's no smoking in his work sites and assures that his crew is respectful. The project is done on time and he continually let's you know if there are any cost changes. Our basement exceeded any expectations we had. We have referred Eric and Nelson Custom Builders onto our friends and their stories are identical to ours and are so happy with their projects. I have used them on at least 2-3 other remodeling/fix up projects. When we redo our master bathroom shortly, there will be only one phone call and that will be to Eric!"

We hired Nelson Custom Builders to renovate our client's lake house. We acted as the designers on this project and since we and the client are in Chicago, it was a long distance project, which is always a bit risky with a new contractor. The product came out beautifully and we recommend working with this company in the future.
Eric always picked up the phone, he was honest, he was extremely communicative and he worked with us to execute the vision. There were times when unforseen hiccups arose and Eric was very calm, which we very much appreciate in a contractor.

"Eric built a new deck, poured a new patio and repaired our front walkway. The fact that Eric is a woodworker was evident in the workmanship of the deck. It is outstanding. The repair to the front walk was also very good. The walkway looks like new.
Eric is very pleasant to work with and generally the project was managed well. A strength of Eric's approach is that he does not have multiple projects going on at once which compete for he and his crew's time. All in, the project was completed in a little more than two weeks."
